How your social media should align with your website

March, 2020

For most of you, the aim of your social media is to get visitors to your website, whether that be paying customers or potential clients. With this in mind, it's important that your website and social media align.

Your branding should be consistent through all your channels. This includes your logo, colour schemes, font etc. If you haven't already, it's worth putting together a brand guide for your company to refer back to.

As the owner of your business, you'll know what your message is and it's up to you to let your clients and customers know it. Keep your message consistent across all channels, including your website.

When you update your website with new blog posts and products who knows about it? Chances are, people won't be regularly checking your site unless you prompt them to. As soon as you add something new to your site, let your social media followers know with a new post. Whilst you're there, change your bio link to a direct link to this new item, this makes it easier to find what you're promoting.

Everyone loves free marketing and having other people do the work for you is even better. Share buttons are a great option that allow your client/customer to share your work on a number of platforms, letting more and more people see your site without you doing any extra work!

It works both ways

If a potential new client has landed on your site, it's important they can easily see how to stay connected with you. This can be done in a number of ways and will likely differ dependent on your brand and message. One way to do this is to add social media buttons to your site that when clicked on, show your profile, or to add links into your site, like this.

I've listed just 5 ways to tie your social media and website together but there are loads. Try various techniques and see what works for you. Just remember to stay consistent and keep your followers informed - they follow you for a reason!
