UX Audits

A comprehensive review of your site to ensure it meets user expectation and usability requirements and is performing at it’s best to get you results.

A UX Audit (or UX review) is a vital tool in ensuring your website is performing to the best of it’s ability. Using various UX techniques I will evaluate your website, really getting into the nitty gritty and establish what is and isn’t working. The tools used (listed below) will give a variety of results that I will then put together into a report for you to see what needs changing. Based on these findings I will suggest changes you can make to your site (taking into account the platform used and what is and isn’t possible within it). As a website developer I can then carry out these changes if you wish.

    Understand the Business

No one knows your business better than you do which is why I take the time to understand your business from your point of view.

    Know Your Users

In order to get the most from your users we must understand them. This is done by creating user personas - fictional users that help us understand the customers better.

    Understand Objectives

Now we know the business and it’s customers, we must understand how these 2 come together by creating wireframes and user flows to see how the user is to achieve the end goal (buying a product etc.).

    Customers Point of View

A heuristic evaluation allows me to see things from your customers point of view whilst still remaining impartial to the site.

  • Group analytics

    Analytics

Dependent on how old your site is and how much data you have, it’s important to look at existing analytics to see what is and isn’t working for your website.

    Report

From the research carried out, I’ll put together a report and make recommendations based on my findings.

  • You can of course carry out a UX audit yourself (in fact, I recommend you do) but having someone impartial, that knows the various UX techniques to use and can tell you honestly what isn’t working is really valuable. You’re emotionally invested in your site and therefore can’t always see the issues as quickly as an outsider can.

As a Squarespace Authorised Trainer and website developer, I know what is and isn’t possible within the Squarespace platform so will make suggestions I know are possible for you.

  • I aim to complete audits within a week (this may be more for larger sites) but if you have a completion date in mind just let me know.

  • You can be as involved as you like with the audit but as a minimum I will need to ask you some questions about your business at the start such as who your ideal customer is, social media accounts, where you usually find your customers etc.

  • Yes, I will need to go into the back end of your site mainly to see the analytics and establish what your users are doing once they enter your site.
